iTunes
iTunes
Version: 7.3 Date: Jun 28, 2007
Description: iTunes is miles ahead of every other player in the world. Not only do you get access to the revolutionary iTunes Music Store (iTMS), but you get video/movie playback and a wonderful scripting interface (check out some of Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes).

A lot of plugins, widgets, and applications have been written to enhance iTunes. Some of my favorites are:

  • Jewelcase: an awesome Visualizer plugin to display artwork and album info.
  • Clutter: a completely original app that allows you to "clutter" up your desktop with virtual CDs (a picture of the album artwork); click on a "CD" to play it in iTunes!
  • iTunes Companion: this Konfabulator widget is an awesome artwork downloader/viewer with tons of surprise features.
